چکیده

The heterogeneous disease Breast Cancer (BC) is an ancient disease which was noted 3500 years ago by ancient Egyptians [1] .The heterogeneity, including intratumor heterogeneity and intertumor heterogeneity, is influenced by genetic and nongenetic factors. Furthermore, BC is the most common malignant tumor and the second leading cause of cancer death in women. Because BC is a heterogeneous disease, no single therapy is sufficient to treat all patients. In order to assess prognosis and determine the appropriate therapies for BC patients, many criteria like patient age, axillary lymph node status, tumor size, histological grade and lymphovascular invasion, hormone receptor status, and HER2 status have been used to categorize the disease. Based on recent molecular techniques, particularly gene expression profiling and immunohistology, BC can be classified into four major types: estrogen and progesterone receptor positive luminal A and luminal B, HER2 and basal-like/ triple negative BC [2]. If BC is diagnosed early, women have better prospects for survival. However, most women diagnosed with this disease will undergo systemic or local therapies to treat the disease. The therapies involve

Progress in breast cancer chemoprevention.

Over the past years there have been significant advances in breast cancer treatment and early detection. For the first time, a decrease in cancer mortality has been observed. Recently, much progress has been made in the understanding of carcinogenesis partly due to available new technologies to detect early molecular changes in the tissue. The knowledge of breast cancer carcinogenesis has provi...

Comparing the Effects of 4 and 12 Weeks of Aerobic Training on Tumor Volume in Female Mice with Breast Cancer

Introduction: Tumor size is a contributing factor in cancer prognosis. On the other hand, regular exercise may play an important role in inhibiting tumor growth in breast cancer. Because of the key role of tumor volume in tumor metastasis, the aim of the present study was to compare the effects of a 4-week and a 12-week aerobic training on tumor volume in female mice with breast cancer. Methods...

Inherent radiosensitivity and its impact on breast cancer chemo-radiotherapy

About 10% of apparently normal individuals are sensitive to clastogenic effects of physico-chemical agents. More than 45% of breast cancer patients’ exhibit elevated radiosensitivity. Although the nature of inherent radiosensitivity is not fully understood, but insufficiency and impaired DNA repair mechanism might be prime cause of radiosensitivity. This is evident from genetically affect...

Studying the effects of several heat-inactivated bacteria on colon and breast cancer cells

A great number of researches over the last years are allocated to know cancer reasons, prevention and treatment strategies. Bacterial infections are one of the promoting factors in cancer development. The present study was carried out to study effects of heat-killed bacteria on cancer cell lines MCF7 and HT-29. To this purpose, four bacterial strains including Salmonella typhi, Sta...
